Curvic coupling is an important element of the CNC machine tool. Which ensures high rigidity and precision indexing of the work table , tool turret etc.The indexing accuracy obtained is of the order of + 2 sec. The coupling consists of two halves, both of these halve accurately hardened and ground teeth, the teeth of one half engage with the gaps in the other to give a very rigid
 coupling. One half of the coupling is fixed to the stationary member and the other half to the member which indexes. Maximum number of positions that could be indexed is equal to the number of teeth. Generally 360 positions index facility is incorporated in NC machine tables, and these are equipped with hydraulic clamping. These couplings are produced on Gleason spiral bevel gear grinders.
